Raytheon Trophy Celebration

This weekend was the Celebration of Jay's squadron, the 493rd, for winning the 2007 Raytheon Trophy. The award is presented to the best air-to-air squadron in the Air Force, Guard, and Reserves. The Raytheon corporation flies out, throws a whole lot of money towards some events for the squadron, and then a huge formal dinner in which they present the trophy (a Stanley Cup - sized Silver thing..). On Thursday, we had a golf tournament in the morning, followed by a BBQ at the Duxford Imperial War Museum near Cambridge, where the entire American section was cordoned off for just our squadron, with personalized tours, and a just-for-us flying demo involving a Spitfire and a P-51.

Friday afternoon, we drove up to Norwich (about an hour north), for the formal celebration held at Dunston Hall.

Heather Roberts & I on the balcony of the Reception Hall

Jay & I with Heather & John (Jay and John where roommates when they first got to England and the two couples started dating about 6 months apart. John was one of Jay's groomsmens & in February John proposed to Heather! Their wedding is set for October 12th in San Diego!)

Keith Young, Jay & John. We missed Emily (Keith's wife) at the party becuase of their new 2 week old beautiful baby girl Grace who wasn't quite ready to be away from mom.

Dunstan Hall, where the Celebration Dinner was held...it is really nice hotel just outside of Norwich, so we stayed the night last night and walked around the grounds this morning. It was a beautiful sight with an amazing golf course...I know Jay will have to come back and play the course!
It was a great time and ended up being a beautiful day today and we had a great time walking around the grounds with Heather and John.
