Diggerland (yes Diggerland) & Cornwall!

Last weekend once Jay got back from his TDY we drove down early Saturday morning to Cornwall (South west England).  Jay has always said that if i was ever at a loss of what to get him for a birthday, anniversary, Christmas, etc. present that all he would ever want is a Tractor and a big pile of dirt!  Well in England they have these theme parks (and I use that term loosely) of JCB Tractors (the British equivalent to Caterpillar) and such.  They are mostly geared towards kids (Evan would have had an absolute blast there) but there is an activity for adults called the JCB experience that allows you to drive a tractor for 2 hrs... so that is what I got him for our anniversary.  He was really excited about it but neither one of us really knew what to expect.

This was the sign welcoming us and directing us towards the entrance....
We weren't exactly sure what to think... it looked a bit sketchy!
Jay getting some practice in!  We thought it would be very amusing if this was actually what he got to drive... but it wasn't!
This is what he got to drive!!!   He had so much fun... can you tell by his smile??
There were 3 tasks that they had to complete, flattening out rough land, moving & stacking big tractor tires, & digging a hole.  He had a blast digging but actually had the most fun moving and stacking the tires.
Jay and his Tractor!  Look how proud he is....
I actually got my hand at digging too... it was actually quite fun!
After that we continued to the coast to Cornwall and down to Penzance and Land's End (the most Southern & Western part of England.  This is the view from Land's End
Jay being who he is did not hesitate at all climbing out on the edge. (Mom I thought of you the whole time and how you would have hated this!)  But I have to say I love this picture I took of him... it is very humbling to me for some reason.
Sunday morning we hiked a little along the coast and it was amazing!  This is such an amazing part of England we really loved it!  This is at the start of the hike towards the bottom.
The view from the highest point in that area (about 100 ft above the water).  Reminded us both of the Cliffs of Moer in Ireland.  They were absolutely beautiful though.  We actually ended up staying up there for a little while and just sitting enjoying the view.  The color of the water was amazing.
Jay hanging out...
Us on the edge enjoying the view!  It was breathtaking!!!

It was a great weekend ( A LOT of driving) but so worth it.  We ended up going back home through Leicester because one of my good friends from High School (Sarah Matuza) was there on business!  I hadn't seen her since our Wedding and it was great to catch up.  She thinks she is coming back in August so hopefully we can catch up again!  I would post pictures but we didn't take any there.

I did take a few videos of Jay driving the tractor so I'll post those soon.

We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us so there will be more to blog about... until next time!

Not much going on...

Sorry it has been awhile since I've updated this, there really hasn't been much going on.  Although I'm not sure how many people actually check on our blog for updates but I know Kelley does and she likes seeing stuff so I do enjoy updating it just for her!

Last weekend the weather was absolutely beautiful and we were able to go for a walk on a trail we pass everyday on our way to work but had never made it out there to actually walk it.  So our good friend Amy went with us and we had a great time.  It is only about a 2 mile trail but was a lot of fun, it was really pretty and since the weather had been so wonderful it was great being outside.
Jay being artsy above and climbing below...
Amy and I during our walk...

We do have some other stuff coming up in the next few weeks and months so I'll be able to put more stuff on here.  We booked a trip to Santorini, Greece in July that we are really looking forward to and have some friends and family coming to visit as well.  So hopefully I'll be better about putting more posts on here.

65 Anniversary of D-Day

Yesterday, June 6, was the 65th Anniversary of D-Day.  There was a big ceremony at American Cemetery in Caen, France (or very near there) and Jay's squadron was tasked with doing the missing man fly-by at the end of the ceremony.  Jay volunteered to be in the formation and ended up being #3 (the one who pulls up creating the missing man).  He was very excited and it was very special to him because of what it was and represented, especially on a such a humble day.  Here is the link to watch it on you tube.  Hope you all enjoy.
