San Diego Continued

Here are some of our other pictures from our trip to San Diego.  We stayed an extra day after the wedding and did some site seeing.  We went to the San Diego Zoo which was a lot of fun.  Neither one of us had been there before and it was great!  It was a bit hot so a lot of the animals were sleeping or hiding, but we still got to see quite a few of them!  My personal favorites were the panthers & jaguars.  They were absolutely beautiful, although we didn't get any pictures of them, they were moving around and eating.
This is Heather and I while at a girls lunch she had the day before the wedding.  The restaurant and company were great! And me at the San Diego Zoo sign!
This picture was taken from our hotel room at the Sharaton, amazing site.
I had never been to California before so all these experiences were that much more special for me.  I finally got to put my feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time.  It was a bit cold!
This was the sunrise the morning we left to come back to England.  We stayed on Navy North Island, one of the 3 Navy bases in San Diego, and is located on Coronado Island.  We didn't get to explore as much as we would have liked but we both want to go back!  Our body clocks were all out of whack the entire time we were there, so we saw a lot of sunrises!  There is a beach on Navy North Island that is right next to the lodging rooms, so we literally walked down the stairs and were on the beach!  My type of place!!
This was the moon setting just before the picture above was taken.  We tried to capture how beautiful it was, but this picture really doesn't do it justice!
This was at the Zoo at the Polar Bear Plunge.  It was really neat to see, they had put our carrots and lettuce for the polar bear to eat...although he didn't like the carrots at all!  We were hoping he would get in the water and swim but he didn't. Oh well, still very cool to see!
Jay with the Rhinos.  Another reason he wanted this picture is because one of our good friends that used to fly with Jay, Sig's call sign is Rhino.  So we sent this picture to him.  Jay thought it was pretty funny, and I think Sig did too.
That is it for now.  We had a great time in San Diego and can't wait to get back and explore more!

Back to the 80's

A couple weeks ago PT & Lori Powell hosted an 80's party to welcome back Linsday Blaise from her deploymet!  It was a lot of fun dressing up and remembering some things/styles we would probably rather forget!  I found a couple great things at a consignment shop in Bury and the funniest part is 3-4 of us girls ran into each other shopping for accessories at Claires (which is very much in the 80's currently!)  It was a lot of fun!  Thanks again for hosting PT & Lori and Welcome home Lindsay!!!

Oct 2nd

I know it has been a while since we had an update but there hasn't been much going on.  The only exciting thing, and exciting is probably the wrong word for it, is I cut my finger at work last Monday with a razor blade.  It wasn't so much fun.  I had to go to the ER because it wouldn't stop bleeding.  I finally stopped wearing a bandage on Saturday but it is still swollen & I can't straighten it but it has scabbed over at least.   I will be very glad when it is all healed up!  I will spare you all and not post a picture...I don't even like looking at it!

Jay and I leave next Friday for San Diego for John & Heather's wedding so we are both looking forward to that!

More updates to come!

London

Fountain in the middle of the square
Concert going on in Trafalgar Square
So, we ended up walking around Trafalgar Square, down to Buckingham Palace, and then back to Trafalgar Square through St. James Park.
Jay and I in St. James Park
We had planned on going to one of our favorite resturants in London, Cafe Pacifico a great Mexican restaurant, but instead we found the Texas Embassy which we had heard also had great Mexican food.  It was great, the food wasn't quite as good but it really did feel like we were in Texas!  The resturant was decorated w/ Texas license plates and other Texan Paraphernalia...it was great!  They had a couple of the football games that were going on in the states so watched a little of that while we ate!

Trip to the States- Aug 2008

I took a semi last minute trip home a couple weeks ago to visit family & friends. I was also able to do most of my name change stuff that I had to do in person! So I'm officially Katie Talbert now!!!
Jay had a 6 week TDY with work and part of that was done in Panama City, FL @ Tyndall AFB. I was able to go over for the weekend to break of the time apart a little. We were both very grateful for that and lucky as well. While I was there we went to a party of some friends of ours from England that just got out of the Air Force. It was great to see some friends we hadn't seen in a while too! Thanks again Roland & Tracey for a great Party!
After that weekend I went back to St. Augustine for a few days and were able to visit some girlfriends of mine from College, two of which where my bridesmaids. It was great that it all worked out to get together...unfortunately we didn't get to take any pictures! Thanks again Kelley, Cher, Becky & Trisha for getting together! It was fun...even if it was way too short!
Sally (my sister) and her kids were able to come down as well and then she, the kids & I went up to North Carolina to our family's house up there. My parents came up later and we spent 4 days up there! It was great being with you all and in Brevard.
Evan and I on our deck after a long drive up! He was taking in the sights w/ his binoculars!

Lauren and I hanging out...man that smile is great! She is crawling all over the place now and starting to loose all her baby rolls! Her 1st birthday is coming up...time sure does fly!

Mom and I eating lunch at Hobnobs, one of the many great resturants in Brevard!

We always walk around town and there is a great toy store downtown. Evan and I were watching the trains in the window!

Dad, Evan, & Sally in our "new to us" canoe. Papa got Evan his own paddle but needs to get a little taller before he can really use it! He had fun going on the boat ride none the less!

Jay flew a jet home from the states and I was able to meet him when he landed! It was a very special thing they do...especially for the families! I'm really glad to have him back in England with me!
